The integration of GWAS studies with multi-omics enables the identification and refinement of OA etiologies and related molecular mechanisms. GWAS analyses revealed a spectrum of genetic factors associated with OA. Subsequent integration with selective omics approaches, such as transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, based on their relevance to the properties of candidate genes, allows the reduction/refinement of the candidate gene list and provides deeper molecular insight into how these etiologies influence OA progression
